We recently had a ribbon cutting to open our new kitchen and bath design center at our Brunswick store. At that event, I mentioned that I was excited about the new facility because it represented a win-win reinvestment. Everyone we are connected to benefits—our suppliers benefit, our kitchen designers benefit, our builders benefit, and the homeowners referred to us by our builders benefit. Everyone wins! Later this summer, we will be putting the finishing touches on the rebuilding of our Casco Bargain Barn store. We are remodeling the showroom and adding covered storage for lumber in order to make the store well stocked for builders. Everyone who works at the store will benefit, as will all the builders who live or work in the Lake Region area.
In August, we will be breaking ground on a brand new store at our Kennebunk facility. In that project, we will be completely demolishing the old store and building a modern store attached to a new drivethru warehouse. This facility will also include a fresh and dynamic kitchen design center, like the one we just opened in Brunswick. All our employees in Kennebunk, and all our customers who live or work in York County will benefit from this project.
We pay close attention to what builders want. We pay close attention to what matters most to the people on our team. The listening and survey work we do allows us to know, with a great deal of confidence, what types of investments will be valued and helpful to the people who work with us and buy from us. I started working at Hancock Lumber in 1991. Many of our top customers then are still our top customers today. Many of our key employees then are still great leaders of our team today. A company that began doing business in 1848 values relationships, respects people, and believes in reinvesting in the business for the benefit of all. It would be hard to stay relevant and strong for over 165 years without doing so. These are values that have served us well and continue to define how we aspire to think and act.
Thank you for being such an important part of our team!
