“Before Hancock Lumber, I worked my whole professional life as a chef. I was an executive sous chef at Sunday River, but after my son was born it became too demanding to have a family life in that industry. I was looking for something with more flexibility and Hancock Lumber offered that to me. I started working here not knowing a thing about sawmills and they’ve worked with my every step of the way. I believe almost anyone can find something they are good at in a sawmill, planer mill, or retail. The culture is extremely professional yet laid back, and it’s a big shift in dynamic (that I hadn’t experienced before) where your family life can come first.”
