“I’m a bit in awe as Hancock Lumber enters its 175th consecutive year of doing business in Maine and New Hampshire. 1848 – that’s when it all started – prior to the first cannonball being fired in the Civil War. Since then, 7 consecutive generations of the Hancock family have stood behind, beside, and in front of this company as it marched its way through wars and depressions, good times and bad. Along that entire journey there have been three constants – amazing employees, loyal customers, and supportive communities. Hancock Lumber would not be here today without the commitment of those constituent groups. But here we are, entering 2023 as one of the oldest companies in America. And more importantly, we are still growing, learning, and improving – expanding both our geographic reach and our product and service capabilities. Hancock Lumber is 175 years old, but at the same time it feels like we are just getting started!”

“It’s hard to put into words what being connected to the Hancock Lumber team has meant and continues to mean to me. Aside from the rich history and the amazing successes of the company over the years, the most impressive and rewarding part for me has been witnessing the dedication and commitment of the community of people that have played a part in this great story. It truly is a special place to be and hearing all the reflections of people’s experiences is super motivating to ensure the legacy of letting everyone lead continues on for years to come.
