A tradition since 2000, every year the Institute for Family-Owned Business recognizes family-owned, Maine-based businesses through its Maine Family Business Awards. This year’s event was hosted at the brand new L.L. Bean Headquarters in Freeport, Maine on October 18th. Since its inception, more than 100 businesses have been recognized for various categories of excellence. Businesses are nominated by members of the public who submit and in-depth application and judges score them to see if they will take home an award, live! The guest speaker at this year’s event was Chase Morrill, co-creator of Maine Cabin Masters and the event was MC’d by Amanda Hill, Weeknight Anchor on Newscenter Maine. The award categories were as follows:
· Renys Large Business Award (25 or more employees)
· Chalmers Insurance Group Customer Service Award
· Horch Roofing First Generation Award
· M&T Bank Innovation & Technology Award
· Shep Lee Community Service Award
· Maddy Corson Small Business Award (fewer than 25 employees)
· Geiger Environmental Leadership Award
Team Hancock is so proud to announce that it has received the M&T Bank Innovation and Technology Award for our technological innovations, such as using artificial intelligence and grade-scanning technology in sawmills to maximize log yields!
