Employee of the Year: Keith Emerson, Driver Pro
When Hancock joined with Lapointe Lumber in 2021, we acquired a great family business and an amazing team of employees who care so much about the business. Keith Emerson is a shining example of that, which is why the Augusta team chose him for the 2022 Employee of the Year award! Keith embodies our ‘Everybody leads’ and safety-first culture and represents it daily. He is never afraid to respectfully share his opinion and is always looking out for his own safety, as well as the safety of his fellow employees. Employee of the Year: Kyle Tracy, Pine Manufacturing Pro
A true team player, Kyle is very approachable and wants to help more employees become proficient on the moulder, always sharing his wealth of ‘process knowledge’ and assisting his workmates. Kyle is a ‘go-to’ person, answering any questions his teammates might have and an all-around great coworker. Whether it is his hallmark smile and positive attitude, or his wise cracks to help lighten the mood and pass the day, Kyle makes work fun! He is a key member of a world-class moulder crew. Employee of the Year: Shayne Gagnon Filieo, Order Coordinator
When I consider Shayne, he certainly has ability in abundance, but his remarkable dependability truly puts the dazzling brilliance on the abilities that he brings to the team here in Bridgton. Shayne has consistently shown his willingness to meet the needs of his teammates and our customers wherever and whenever it is required. He was vitally important throughout the pandemic, when we were shorthanded and oversold, putting in whatever crazy hours we needed to meet the challenge of the times. Hancock Lumber is blessed to have him within the ranks. Thank you and congratulations Shayne!

Employee of the Year: Stephan Stack, Expeditor
Stephan joined Team Hancock in 2020, and he has shown growth on both personal and professional levels consistently year-over-year. Over the last year, the Brunswick logistics team has dramatically improved in areas that Stephan has a direct influence on—from customer service, team culture, accuracy of loads leaving, and efficiency, Stephan has made a tremendous impact. Stephan’s coworkers overwhelmingly nominated him for this honor –he has a direct effect on our ‘Everybody Leads’ culture. Thank you, Stephan, we appreciate all that you do!

Employee of the Year: Jeffrey Franklin, Yard Pro
Jeff is the type of employee that every manager wants on their team—safe, unselfish, reliable, honest, and a hardworking team player. As Casco’s Safety Coordinator, Jeff collaborates well with his fellow employees, listening to and implementing ideas to help keep their location safe. Jeff is also our Yard Foreman, where he takes pride in maintaining our Yard—Jeff does an excellent job in being a true Hancock Lumber brand ambassador and leading by example. Customers share feedback that “The tall guy with a beard in the yard is great—very helpful and has such a great attitude!” What an amazing accomplishment you have earned here.

Employee of the Year: Lloyd “Marty” Martin, Parts Manager
With our facility growing we had a need for more strength in our parts department to help assist our maintenance team. Marty was the clear choice. He now has been in this role for several years. Marty does an incredible job keeping our mill moving forward, is productive, and extremely professional with our vendors. Marty is also Casco’s mentor leader for all new employees and is a perfect fit in this role. Additionally, he schedules, organizes, and tracks offsite repairs, vehicle service and repairs, extinguisher and suppression vendor inspections, and more. The entire Casco team is very appreciative for all that he does for our facility and Hancock lumber. Thank you, and congratulations, Marty!

Employee of the Year: George Sharrard, Receiver
Every now and then you come across that one person who is always willing to do whatever it takes no matter how difficult the situation and doesn’t ask questions. That person for Damariscotta this year was George Sharrard. George has become our “go to” guy outside for all things big and small. His energy and enthusiasm for what he does is unmatched. One thing you never want to do is follow George across the yard because you will get left behind. He only has one speed and that is full speed ahead. Thank you and congratulations on being the 2022 Employee of the Year!

Employee of the Year: Courtney Thoits, Assistant Credit Manager
Courtney joined the Accounts Receivable team in 2017 has been an integral part as well as an invaluable member since that time. Her personal growth has expanded exponentially through her 5-year tenure due to her willingness to learn and expand her AR knowledge and capabilities. She is always willing to jump right and assist customers as well as the team at any point that is needed. She always goes the extra mile and is such a great team player. Her energy, positive attitude and can-do attitude makes her a pleasure to work with. She has expressed interest in taking on expanded responsibilities from the get-go and she moved to Assistant Credit Manager late in 2022. Great job Courtney and thanks for adding so much value to our Team!

Employee of the Year: Dave Seaward, Driver Pro
Dave Seaward is one to greet you each day with an upbeat ‘let’s get ‘em’ attitude. Dave does his inspections, takes all his photos, asks for credits at his stops, and communicates any changes to his deliveries. While this is a standard, Dave does it willingly and enthusiastically. His spirit raises morale for others around him, and he is always enjoyable to be around. Even after grinding away the demands of same day deliveries, he always comes back and inquires about what’s next. Over the year, there have been several customer compliments regarding his performance—our entire team is proud to have Dave working here in Kennebunk!
Hancock Location: Madison Mill
Employee of the Year: Joe Bates, Kiln Operator
Joe Bates is a dedicated 32-year team member at the Madison Lumber facility. Joe takes great pride in his operation of the kiln drying process, and in the quality of his dried lumber. He is always planning ahead with regard to kiln schedules and implications they have for steam demand and boiler operation. In addition Joe efficiently manages mill product shipping and coordinates with truck drivers, sales, and office team members. He always treats others with respect, lends a helping hand often without being asked, and can be counted on to go above and beyond the call!
Hancock Location: Mainely Trusses
Employee of the Year: Justin Sounik, MT Assembler
Any business, team, or organization would be extremely lucky to have Justin on their side—and, fortunately, Justin is part of the Mainely Trusses team. Justin began his journey in October 2019 with no prior manufacturing experience. He quickly adapted to his new work environment and has consistently improved throughout his tenure at Mainely Trusses. He is a quiet leader who is always observing, learning, and using this knowledge to improve himself and his team. Always excelling in both the cutting and fabrication areas and helping the entire organization improve and establish new goals, Justin has the respect of his co-workers, leads by example, and is a great mentor for our team.

Employee of the Year: Sandy Eldon, Driver Pro
Since joining the team in August of 2021, Sandy has made a fantastic impression on fellow employees and customers. North Conway continuously receives positive feedback from customers about how helpful and pleasant Sandy is to work with on job sites. Each day, Sandy comes to work with a contagiously positive attitude, and truly embraces the ‘everybody leads’ culture that we strive for at Hancock Lumber. She does puts safety first and looks for ways to help the team out in her down time. Thank you, Sandy, for all you do and congratulations on being North Conway’s Employee of the Year!

Employee of the Year: Dave Mauro, Sash Gang Operator
Dave Mauro is the ‘poster child’ for the Pittsfield Sawmill. Dave originally was hired to assist with the setup of machinery 37 years ago in Pittsfield. A very eager young man, Dave started off willing to do anything someone would let him do. Dave continues to carry those qualities with him in his work—always willing and eager to jump in with a can-do attitude. Today you will find Dave running the sash, the debarker, or the trimmer. Dave is steadfast and reliable, coming to work every day and staying late to ensure his equipment is ready to go the next morning. Thank you, Dave, for all that you do!
Hancock Location: ROC (Yarmouth)
Employee of the Year: Scott Moore, System Specialist
From the beginning, it was clear from Scott’s personality that he would fit right in at Hancock. Scott took no time stepping up to learn every single job at the store where he started. He always asked follow questions about why we did stuff. He is a natural idea factory. In just a few years he raised his hand to run Casco Retail (in a time of need). It needed a lot of personal care and attention…which Scott gave it. A few years after that he took on the same challenge as GM in Brunswick. And now, he has taken on a new challenge at the ROC.
As you all know Scott is in the perfect position. His coaching style, attention to detail, and dedication to finding solutions is unparalleled. He has raised the Helpdesk Bar is a new level and he is having the time of his life in his perfect job. Scott was not afraid at each opportunity to take a risk knowing Hancock had his back.
We are so glad Scott is on Team Hancock and willing to try jobs—always looking (and learning) for the best fit!

Employee of the Year: Caleb Doyle, Receiver
Caleb began his career at Hancock Lumber in September of 2020 as a YardPro, just one month after Saco officially opened. Caleb quickly grew into this role and became a yard leader. Caleb has seen even more growth in 2022 and is now Saco’s physical receiver, as well as one of Saco’s employee mentors. Caleb is always so diligent while unloading all the vendor trucks to ensure we receive products that are correct and undamaged. If you ask anyone, Caleb remains a go-to for anyone with questions and is always willing to help. The growth Caleb has shown in just two years is amazing. Congratulations, Caleb, on earning this well-deserved recognition!

Employee of the Year: Crystal Ward, Inside Sales Support
Crystal is a great teammate to all and a shining example to the rest of us of what customer service should look like. She always puts in the extra effort to make sure that customers have a positive experience. Her effort and attention to detail is a huge help, as is her communication and follow up with clients. Crystal understands every kitchen related process very well and plays a key role in getting our kitchens received and shipped out to customers. She always makes sure that our kitchen showroom is looking good and is ready for business. Crystal is a critical part of the kitchen design and sales process in Windham—and, her customer service never disappoints. We are thankful that Crystal is part of Team Hancock —congratulations, Crystal!

Employee of the Year: Duncan Oickle, Driver Pro
Duncan is Wolfeboro’s 2022 ‘Employee of the Year’ first and foremost because he is safe. His desire to follow the safety protocols we put in place keep him and his coworkers as safe as possible. This year was a year of transition in Wolfeboro, and it was not without its obstacles. Duncan proved to be invaluable, stepping up to help during any situation, doing whatever was asked of him without complaint—and, always with a positive, happy demeanor that makes the workplace enjoyable. A desire to want to make the team better, his overall can-do attitude, and his safety record made selecting Duncan as Wolfeboro’s employee of the year an easy choice. Employee of the Year: Sarah Dube, Counter Pro
Sarah is a key member of our awesome counter crew in Yarmouth known for the ability to get customers in and out in record time, while leaving with a smile on their face. In addition Sarah has become a key member of our merchandising and replenishing team. She adds the finishing touches to make sure the store is easy to shop and well stocked. It doesn’t stop there however….Sarah is also on the safety committee and is one of our new employee mentors. As a tremendous supporter and contributor to an “everyone leads culture” Sarah is able to help new employees understand and guide them through the responsibilities that goes with it.
