In their February 2021 edition, Maine Women Magazine interviewed Brunswick Kitchen Designer Jessica Enman on the process of remodeling a kitchen. Throughout the article, Jessica talks about meeting with the client, creating a design collaboratively, using computer software to provide 3D colored renderings, and the overall evolution of designing a space.
Jessica also discusses the reality of living through a kitchen remodel and preparing her clients for that transition. From eating takeout to cooking in a microwave or a toaster oven, she shares with homeowners what to expect and how to prepare. One other important point Jessica highlights is doing your research in advance to find the right contractor to do the work–and, getting on their construction schedule. Demand is at an all-time high right now, so early planning is encouraged. Almost all contractors have a waitlist almost six months out. Finding a reputable contractor with great recommendations early on is an important part of the process, whether you’re renovating or building new.
Jessica Enman has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and has been working in kitchen design for over eight years. In 2016, Jessica joined Team Hancock in Brunswick. Since then, she has helped countless clients create new spaces or update existing ones.
