Hancock builders tour Ryefield sawmill | Earlier this week customers from our Damariscotta market toured Hancock’s Ryefield sawmill, seeing first hand our Eastern White Pine manufacturing process. Over twenty people visited the Casco operations including building and remodeling contractors, our Damariscotta store manager, Eric Dolloff, and our retail pine specialist, Mike Michaud. Leading the tours were sawmill manager, Mike Shane and HR/Process Improvement Manager, Kevin Raven.

Starting in the log yard, the groups wove in and out of the property seeing every step of the operation–how Team Hancock turns the logs into our signature product, Eastern White Pine Hancock boards. We are proud to be a ZERO WASTE manufacturing operation with 100% of every log utilized.

We welcome our builders to tour our sawmills anytime and consider it a unique opportunity. Every time customers visit our mills it is extremely beneficial–builders create relationships with our sawmill teams, are able to ask questions about our process, product, and customized options–and, our sawmill teams appreciate direct market feedback from customers and always learn something new.  

We work collaboratively and listen to builder feedback. Hancock Lumber even created a new grade called PRO-FINISH based on customer input. Available primed or natural, this is an improved grade available at our retail lumberyards. Team Hancock is focused on a culture of engagement, continuous improvement, and intimate partnerships with our customers.

As both the manufacturer and retailer of Hancock Pine, we have the flexibility and creativity to showcase our manufacturing operations and engage customers in discussion about new grades, textures, patterns and finish solutions.
